Back To School

This upcoming back to school shopping season will be unlike any other we’ve seen. Besides all the uncertainty about whether our children will be going back to school or not, one thing we can be sure of is parents that have the means will be buying supplies in droves.

No matter what school will look like this year, it will most likely have some sort of virtual teaching component. With this, parents will be looking to purchase more arts and crafts, home-school supplies and more.

Aside from school supplies, more and more parents will also be thinking about ways to keep their kids healthy and be healthier themselves. Hand sanitizers and masks will be standard protocol, but what about the other preventive measures and products one can use to help keep everyone staying healthy? Natural products and DIY home remedies will continue to see growth into the back to school season.

Marketing strategies created for the upcoming “back to school” season will be different this year. There will be much more of an emphasis on the importance of health and routine. Here are a few thoughts that Socialike is thinking about and starting to prepare for our clients.

It’s not just about marketing for the children’s needs. At Socialike we are thinking about the marketing approach of trying to keep the parents healthy as well as the children.

The importance of having a routine. Especially with the lack of a school and/or work schedule due to working from home and homeschooling, creating and sticking to a routine is a real struggle for a lot of people. But, routine is so important for all of us, adults and children alike. It helps to keep some sort of structure in an otherwise seemingly chaotic environment. There are all types of different routines throughout the day from scheduling school/work times and meal times to supplements/vitamin and beauty regiments.

That being said, one of the hardest parts about taking vitamins is remembering to take them. Making it a part of your everyday routine should help, and making it a family affair will help as well. It’s easier to stick to a schedule if you have someone else to remind you, and hold you accountable. The same goes for all of your self-care routines – including your beauty regiments.

Not only is it important to remember to take your vitamins, but we could be using this time to teach our kids about the importance of vitamins and minerals, and why we take them. Take advantage of the time the kids are home; It’s a great time to talk to your kids about the importance of being healthy and what it means.

Have your kids do the research for you and your family. As Socialike starts to ramp up our marketing to Gen Z the one thing that keeps popping up is how Gen Z “parents the parent.” Ask your son or daughter to help you conduct some research. It can be an opportunity for a great teaching moment and you might be surprised about what they come up with.
